I don't really care how much the latest superhero film took at the box office, although I'd probably know if you asked me. When I watch a film the main thing I am looking for is a good story. I like it when I look up at the big screen and can see a part of me staring back at me. More than anything, I am still looking for Jimmy Stewart and Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder in every film I see.

Best movie theater in NYC?
Let me know your thoughts, I plan to check them all out. I do like the Angelika, even if you hear a train going by every three minutes! The IFC is great too - seemingly perfect sound and visuals.
The best movie theater in NYC is easily the Ziegfeld on West 54th Street. The screen size, sound and general ambience can't be beat.
As for arthouses, I would say either the Landmark Sunshine or my personal favorite, the Lincoln Plaza Cinemas at Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side. The Angelika has a nice selection of films and has it's quirky charm, but it's still a dump.

The Film Forum is obviously my favorite :)
