I don't really care how much the latest superhero film took at the box office, although I'd probably know if you asked me. When I watch a film the main thing I am looking for is a good story. I like it when I look up at the big screen and can see a part of me staring back at me. More than anything, I am still looking for Jimmy Stewart and Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder in every film I see.

An In Depth Analysis Of The Golden Globe Awards 2010.
fully agreed, dances with smuffs! in years to come when 3d cinema is either all the rage of disfunct people will look back at avayar as either a film with the worst plot ever to win a major award or the gimicy peice of sh*t it is
Lol. Your analysis of Avatar was obviously more in-depth than the Golden Globe voting committee's.
They should just start calling awards what they really mean: Best Bankable Actor, Best Movie That Made Globs of Money, Best Actress Who We Didn't Actually Think Could Act But Dammit She's Cute, etc.
Keep in mind that this is the same group that felt it necessary to nominate Sandra Bullock twice tonight, and gave Robert Downey Jr. a win.

I quote you in my blog today on the importance of story in a film. Hope you don't mind.

haha. That was EXACTLY what I was thinking!! My vote would be with Up in the Air all the way.
ReplyDeleteCos everyone knows that "Drama" actually means "Special Effects Bonanza". Don't they?
ReplyDeleteUnwashed Mass - haha!
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, it's disappointing, but, y'know - that's the movies.

I think James Cameron said it best himself when he admitted he thought The Hurt Locker was going to be the big winner.
