This is happiness.

  1. Can't go wrong with that Almost Famous scene. I have a soft spot for scenes in non-musicals where characters burst into song. I nearly cried at the end of Step Brothers when Will Ferrell belts out "Time to Say Goodbye".

I would add the Johnny B Goode scene from Back to the Future, the bit in the bar in The Deer Hunter where they all sing "Can't Take my Eyes off You" and - perhaps a controversial choice - the "Swinging on a Star" heist from the criminally underrated "Hudson Hawk".

  2. I love that movie, Almost Famous. Watched it about 3 times, I think. Guess I'm a groupie at heart. Of course, all OST in the movie are great!

  4. The Almost Famous scene is wonderful, true bliss. Did you enjoy the musical in 500 Days of Summer? It makes me smile so hard it hurts.

  5. I remember liking the Tiny Dancer sequence, but now in watching it again, it seems a little contrived, or perhaps only the part of Russell, played by Billy Crudup. I dislike "discovering" this though, because I like this movie, and I'm also a fan of Billy Crudup, especially his work in Big Fish and Dedication, which I think I love every bit as much as I do Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (both of which feature Tom Wilkinson, another favorite of mine). So, you see, I'm really unhappy about realizing that this scene doesn't work for me anymore.

  6. Why is it contrived? What changed for you? I'd love to hear more of your thoughts Chad!
