I don't really care how much the latest superhero film took at the box office, although I'd probably know if you asked me. When I watch a film the main thing I am looking for is a good story. I like it when I look up at the big screen and can see a part of me staring back at me. More than anything, I am still looking for Jimmy Stewart and Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder in every film I see.

Chicken And Eggs
Do people watch movies because they're ill, or do they get ill so they can stay home and watch movies?
I'm the latter kind. I love faking sick and watching movies all day - the funniest are the times when I resort to watching Italian movies on a random whim.
When I was little and would get sick, after going to the doctor my mom and I would go to Target to get whatever antibiotics I got prescribed and while we were there she'd let me pick out a movie to buy. So now I associate illness with movie purchases and viewings. Which is probably why I went out and bought Howl's Moving Castle even though I had strep throat XD
Some people call it a Mental Health Day. Much better alternative than showing up to work with an assault rifle. That's a scene nobody wants to star in. (Especially the male minorities, why do they always seem to get shot first in these types of scenes?)
If you need a Ferris Bueller day, to either watch him, or be him, just take it. It's like sleep. Get your dose of beauty when you need it, either on screen or off, because it'll just get worse if you don't.
And stay away from those assault rifles; no beauty there.
Badly dubbed and more-funny-than-scary Godzilla movies with my mom when I was sick. So it was always nice being sick.
Kid, just in case hasn't crossed your radar and you might have interest (strikes me as full of potent moments, and from a writer/director with art in her blood), Tiny Furniture, twitch link, nytimes trailer link.
I wish I was lucky enough to actually STAY awake when I get sick to actually watch anything. Most of the time, I wake up feeling "icky" which progresses to "forget-it-I'm-going-to-sleep" D:
So, I usually fake being sick to watch a good movie that's on T.V. (only because the movie theatre where I live is outragously over priced).
Don't need to fake anything. I don't have a job. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. But if someone could look after my kids for a while then I might be able to watch something other than "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs". Boo hoo hoo hoo hooooooooooooooo
Sometimes we stay home to watch movies... other times it just happens to be that we are sick enough to get to watch movies. Thank goodness there are new streaming methods which allow us to watch whatever we want without having to get out of bed for those days when we are really and truly sick.
Pretty cool blog. I found you as a blog of note and I commend you on the accolade. I can see why they have chosen your blog. Keep up the good work.

I'd say both. Movies are a kind of holiday for when you're sick! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a new follower here now!
